Lydia R. Diamond began her career as a self-produced artist on a tiny stage in a vegetarian restaurant. Between shifts as a waitress fresh out of Northwestern University she began a career as a storyteller with a unique voice. Cafe Voltaire was the launch pad – MPAACT was a weigh station – and a luminous career as a master storyteller was underway. Both personable and self-deprecating, Lydia remains a mainstay in Chicago theater while managing the demands of motherhood, a career on the great white way and television. Join us us for a frank conversation about her roots, her craft and the challenges that define her work and her life.
