Lauren Wells-Mann, the director of Mother of the Dark Water, takes a deep dive into her critically acclaimed work, devised with multiple casts during a period in her life when she was just starting her own family. Lauren gestated this work at the same time she was gestating her son (Steven). To say that the experience was trying and often difficult is an understatement. But what emerged was a play that gave voice to a collection of young women and helped define Lauren’s creative aesthetic. This title features her and a collection of the creative team that helped usher this play into being.
